Homes for Tomorrow – Shaping the Future Together

This new strategy will focus on providing the right homes for those who need them, increasing the number of affordable homes, and addressing homelessness in the District.

Like many areas of the country we are grappling with a worsening housing situation. There is not enough social housing to meet the needs of locals. House prices and rents in the private sector are becoming increasingly unaffordable for many.

The new Homes for Tomorrow housing strategy will set out how the Council will:

  • Prevent and relieve homelessness and rough sleepingEnable the delivery of affordable homes
  • Allocate homes for those on the Housing Register
  • Work with partners to deliver the housing that is needed.

To help shape the new strategy the Council held an event in July 2025, bringing together specialist partners it will work with in order to develop the strategy.
