One way we help our local community organisations reduce their carbon emissions and add community value is through the Community Climate Fund.
Energy saving projects
We have supported 38 projects across the District at local community buildings over the past five years. Many of these projects involved retrofitting lighting to LEDs, ranging from hall and foyer lights, to floodlights on sports pitches.

One group used the funding to buy solar lights for their scout camping trips.
Other retrofitting measures included installing solar (PV) panels, battery storage, radiator valves and heating controls, heat pumps, insulation, and more efficient water taps and toilet flushers.
Could we help your organisation?
The grant of up to £5,000 is available for new projects meeting one or more climate priority categories. These include examples such as reducing carbon emissions or energy consumption, minimising waste and water usage, or increasing biodiversity and sustainable transport.
When can I apply?
The fund opens four times a year, in January, April, June and September. The next round is open between 1 – 31 January 2026.
