If you are over State Pension age, you may be eligible to claim Pension Credit, even if you own your home or have savings.
People who claim Pension Credit may also be able to get help with heating costs, rent and Council Tax, a free TV licence for those aged 75 or over, and help with the cost of NHS services.
State Pension Age
Reminder to check your State Pension age
The State Pension age increase from 66 years old to 67 years old will first affect those born between 6 April 1960 and 5 March 1961. Anyone born between these dates can check the State pension age calculator at: www.gov.uk/state-pension-age to find out the earliest point at which they’ll be eligible for their State Pension.
Attendance Allowance
Attendance Allowance is a weekly payment to help people who are of pension age or over with long term physical or mental conditions with extra costs. It is based on how your condition affects you and is not means tested, so your savings or income will not affect your claim nor any other benefits you might receive.
You can find out more on the Government website, by calling Citizens Advice West Sussex on 0808 278 7969 or search Attendance Allowance via Citizens Advice.
