Shaping the future of leisure together

Edition: March 2026

Over recent months we have been reviewing leisure opportunities and considering the future delivery of sport, leisure and physical activity facilities locally.

Our new Active Wellbeing Strategy has been developed following an extensive community and partner engagement programme including a public survey and a series of focus groups to gather views from residents, schools, youth forums, community groups, and service partners.

The strategy aims to build on the strengths of existing services, tackle inequalities and deliver a wider range of health and wellbeing benefits. This work will play a central role in supporting healthier, more active lifestyles for all.

The Active Wellbeing Strategy identifies the role of the Council and its partners in supporting people to be active.

We are also developing an Active Wellbeing Investment Strategy, which will focus on the Council’s four main leisure facilities (The Pavilions In The Park, The Bridge Leisure Centre, Billingshurst Leisure Centre and Steyning Leisure Centre). It seeks to secure a sustainable future for these important community assets.
