Edition: November 2026
Although Horsham Museum is currently closed while important repair works are undertaken, there is still plenty taking place behind the scenes.
The Museum’s blog regularly features articles detailing the day-to-day work of the Museum team and gives insight into the processes for caring for the Museum’s building and collection.
Alongside managing the additional conservation requirements needed whilst the building works are taking place, the team are also working on the redisplay of some of our galleries. This will ensure that when visitors return in the new year they will have exciting new things to see.
Costume Gallery
The Costume Gallery will be redisplayed to showcase different dress and clothing from people who lived here in the past. The sections will be split into different activities, from farming to leisure, and will give insight into how people lived in times gone by through the clothing that they wore.
Age of Discovery Gallery
19th century Horsham District was a place of new ideas, innovations and discoveries. Our Age of Discovery Gallery will bring these stories to life through the early photography and innovations of local people from the District's history.
Christmas Shopping Days
The Museum Shop will be open every Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm between 2 and 23 December for Christmas shopping days. The Shop is the perfect place to find gifts for history and art lovers and of course, the essential Christmas treat of Horsham gingerbread.
Visitors young (and not so young) will also have the opportunity to create a vintage inspired letter to send to Father Christmas; a guaranteed way of making sure that you find everything that you want in your stocking on Christmas morning.
The Museum will reopen in the New Year on Tuesday 5 January.
