A simple phone designed with independence in mind.
Embracing simplicity
The Ownfone device from Community Link is ideal for anyone needing to stay connected without fuss or confusion. The interface can be set up so the user can see and call contacts without having to navigate through complicated screens. For anyone with a sight impairment, audio assistance can be turned on.
Safety and peace of mind
Users will not receive unsolicited calls; we carefully make sure only approved family and friends can dial in to the device. The Ownfone is small enough to be worn around the neck, giving extra security, freedom, and independence whether at home or away.
Easy to use and straightforward to charge
Ownfone is easy to manage with no fuss. Lights remind the user when the device needs charging, as well as letting them know when it is fully recharged. The battery can last up to a week. It is a cost-effective, secure and reliable piece of technology designed specifically for anyone needing a simplified device.
Featuring a roaming SIM, the Ownfone works across all the networks and selects the strongest cellular signal so is reliable wherever the user is. It helps users stay connected even if they are finding it hard to see, hear or use more complicated technology.
Helping patients home from hospital
The Ownfone is also used by healthcare providers as an effective way of discharging patients from hospital. They give the patient an immediate means to stay connected and access support as needed.
Through the scheme, patients are provided with an Ownfone mobile in their discharge package. The device is provided for free for a fixed period to allow for further assistive technology to be installed. The units are then recycled back to the hospital for the next patient or transferred to the patient if they want to keep them.
This healthcare provider project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
