Dormice at Chesworth Farm

Edition: March 2026

We are delighted to share some exciting news from Chesworth Farm:

Cute dormouse

Recent monitoring has confirmed the presence of fully protected hazel dormice (Muscardinus avellanarius) in the farm’s hedgerows, the first record of this protected species at the site since 2019.

These new records demonstrate the success of the ongoing habitat management and conservation work at Chesworth Farm, and to the dedication of our many volunteers including Horsham Green Gym and the Friends of Chesworth Farm who all play a vital role in helping safeguard the rich biodiversity that makes Chesworth Farm such a special place.
